I've made a 3D filigree mesh which is heavy but deformable, fine for rendering a still frame. I want to use the mesh as a wire mask or veil over a plated metal face - but I'd like it to look more Arabic than steampunk. I have a cyborg Scheherazade in mind.

study of a demon

Another supernatural-religious-renaissance-inspired figure study from me, or as someone else recently said, more strategically posed naked dudes

I originally planned to have this one take place in a more elaborate environment. But the more I worked on the character, the more he developed a kind of... quiet malevolence, which was getting lost when he was a small part of a bigger picture.

So I've ended up keeping him the focus, with a simple background, but hopefully with enough details to make it interesting and tell a bit of a story... We study the demon, and feel safe while doing so because he is imprisoned within the circle. But the demon is also studying us, and upon closer observation we see there are breaks in the circle, and little bits of him are escaping...

Yes, all the sigils in the circle actually have meanings, having to do with the demon's nature.

Painted in Photoshop CS2 as always - comments welcome.

I don't do a lot of fan art, but I read a short story by Jayden Woods and I just had to take a crack at her Tosti character, a Viking boy with long blond braids. I love braids on guys, but they're a tough look to pull off...

Anyways, the story is about the main character Canute's (later to be Canute the Great) relationship with Tosti, and Canute's own conflicted emotions about religion - whether to trust in Odin (the raven) or embrace Christianity. So I wanted to work some of these themes into it. It started, as most of my works do, as just a practice sketch of a face from a photo in a book, and when I read the story, I decided to turn him into Tosti, and it slowly evolved from there. My usual half-assed working methods. I was also trying to play around with some new brushes and coloring techniques, particularly warm saturated shadows which I rarely use.

Here's a link to the short stories (they're all really good!)
In this piece I was trying to capture the essence of a deep forest pool and combine it with a narrative element - the story of a boy, a wish, and a magical fish.

My first submission - This started out as a sketch I did for the DSG back a few months ago. I've been working on it, off and on, since then. My New Year's resolution was to actually finish some of the many paintings I have languishing on my hard drive, so I'm calling this one done!

The story... The man and the elephant are performing partners at the circus. Over time, the elephant has grown more and more attached to him, to the point where she has fallen in love. The man seems not to realize this, however.

But one night he surprises her with a golden ring. Is this part of a new act? Or is it, perhaps, a token of his affection? Ah, poor elephant, so hopeful, so confused...

This started as a charcoal sketch which was scanned and then painted with Photoshop CS2. Comments welcome -
